A look back on our transformational year

As we reflect on the incredible milestones and progress we experienced in 2024, it’s encouraging to see more owners, architects, and engineers embrace water recycling as a sustainable water solution for their projects. This year was defined by growth and innovation at Epic Cleantec as we continued to redefine how buildings manage water. From launching new projects to strengthening our partnerships and securing funding for expansion, every step has brought us closer to a future of smarter water use. As is typical in the new year, January brought new beginnings for Epic Cleantec. We welcomed our new National Sales Manager, Jonathan Farr, to the team to scale our sales and partnership efforts. But Jonathan wasn’t the only new addition: Epic’s Co-founder and CEO, Aaron Tartakovsky, and Chief Commercial Officer, Eric Hough, both welcomed new additions to their families!

In February, we were informed that our partners at the Southwest Sustainability Innovation Engine (SWSIE), led by Arizona State University, were awarded a $15 million grant to help grow the Southwest as a regional hub of economic development catalyzed by sustainability innovation. We were also honored to be featured in a WIRED article discussing the crucial role water recycling technology has in shaping the future of our planet while highlighting some of our projects.

To celebrate Earth Month and SF Climate Week, we hosted leaders from across the real estate industry and local government for a fun happy hour event on the 40th floor of our project at Fifteen Fifty, a luxury apartment building owned by our client Related California. We were also invited to join Mayor London Breed for a special climate week celebration. Definitely a highlight to enjoy a recycled water brew with the Mayor and to build an Epic beeramid in the rotunda of City Hall!

  • Epic OneWater Brews were proudly on display at the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg as part of their “Water Pressure: Designing for the Future” exhibit
  • Several members of the Epic team traveled to the Environmental Protection Agency Headquarters in Washington, D.C. to participate in the inaugural Onsite Water Reuse Summit, where the conversation focused on the critical intersection of science, policy, and operation of water reuse technologies
  • We launched a new page on our website featuring a comprehensive list of water reuse regulations and guidelines across each U.S. state. This resource empowers readers to navigate the waters of reuse with confidence and ease
  • We partnered with Sentral, a leading full-service residential hospitality company, to expand onsite water reuse in their San Francisco projects

May is one of our favorite months as we take time to gather together for our annual company retreat! It’s a fantastic opportunity for our team to step away from the daily grind, reconnect with nature, and forge stronger bonds with each other. We were ecstatic to announce our partnership with Salesforce in June for the ongoing operation of their building’s groundbreaking blackwater reuse system within the iconic Salesforce Tower, a globally recognized landmark in the heart of San Francisco! The Epic team was tapped to help oversee the final permitting and commissioning of the water reuse system, helping it successfully launch as the largest onsite water reuse system in a commercial building in the United States.

As Q3 came to a close, Epic was not slowing down! We were thrilled to announce the first installation of our Epic OneWaterTM system in the Los Angeles market at the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills. This iconic, Forbes 5-Star and LEED Gold certified hotel is renowned for its luxury accommodations and commitment to environmental sustainability. We are excited to partner with such a well-respected hospitality brand to demonstrate how our water reuse technology can play a key role in elevating sustainability as a visible and impactful feature.
