Shower Hour IPA

Shower Hour IPA

A fully sustainably forward IPA

This brew is a delightfully refreshing modern IPA — bright, juicy, and layered — with just enough malt depth and farmhouse yeast character to stand out from your typical West Coast or hazy IPA. Not only is it made with recycled water, but it’s also brewed with several other sustainable ingredients:

  • Azacca® hops: semi-dwarf genetics, high cone efficiency, lower irrigation demand, and robust disease tolerance
  • Fonio grain: naturally drought-tolerant, grows quickly without fertilizers and supports soil health, making it one of the world’s most sustainable cereals
  • Kveik yeast: ferments fast and hot, reducing energy use

6% ABV. Brewed and distributed by Devil’s Canyon Brewing Company in San Carlos, CA. Drink responsibly.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Where did the water come from?
The water used in the brewing process came from the the showers and washing machines of Epic Cleantec projects in California.
Where will Epic’s recycled water beers be available?
Epic’s beers are available in stores at major retailers in California, including BevMo!, Total Wine & More, and Bianchini’s Market, as well as select San Francisco Bay Area stores. Distribution will begin in California, Virginia, Oregon, Ohio, Kentucky, Vermont, New Hampshire, Nebraska, North Dakota, Rhode Island, Alaska, and Washington, D.C.
How was the water treated?
Epic runs advanced onsite water reuse systems that collect water from showers and laundry. The water goes through several treatment steps—filters, biological treatment, membrane filtration, granular activated carbon, reverse osmosis, and disinfection. The resulting high-quality water was then brought to Devil’s Canyon Brewing Company, where it entered a standard craft-brewing process that includes boiling and pasteurization-level heat treatments. Together, these steps remove 99.9999999999% of contaminants, reducing them to near-zero levels—cleaner than tap water in many cities. The highly purified water was then combined with premium, sustainable ingredients to create the Shower Hour IPA and the Laundry Club Kölsch.
