Epic Cleantec
year in review: 2022
As we ring in the New Year and look forward to a productive 2023, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on all our achievements from 2022. From growing the Epic team, to brewing our own recycled wastewater beer, to having our OneWater System named to TIME’s Best Inventions List, our successes have provided a great foundation for growth in the coming year.
In early 2022, Epic partnered with Pique Action to produce a video to help spread awareness of the Water Reuse Revolution and the idea that there is no such thing as wastewater, only wasted water. The video (viewed nearly 85K times) highlights Epic’s origin story and our goal to support communities everywhere to reuse their water and reduce strain on our freshwater resources and municipal water supplies.
In May, we were named to Fast Company’s World Changing Ideas list for the second year in a row as one of 14 projects improving water around the world. Accelerating water resiliency solutions in urban areas and expanding the circular approach to water management will continue to be a focus for Epic in 2023.
By mid-summer we had been featured on CNBC’s Clean Start segment for our work with real estate development firm Related at their Fifteen Fifty luxury apartment building in San Francisco. It was announced that Epic’s installation was the first permitted and operational greywater reuse project in San Francisco’s history and will help the building reuse up to 2.5 million gallons of water each year.
We launched our Proforma Assessment request tool to help owners, developers, architects, engineers and sustainability consultants alike to easily submit project details and receive a complete project viability assessment report. Users receive a sleek report outlining system cost analysis, ROI payback period, water balance summary as well as utility savings potential for upcoming projects.
In the fall we joined thousands of sustainability advocates in exhibiting at Greenbuild, the largest green building conference in the U.S. We took advantage of the conference being hosted in our very own backyard of San Francisco to throw a high-profile happy hour event for key leaders of the industry including local government officials, real estate firms, and sustainability experts. At this event, we served our own beer made with recycled wastewater sourced from the nearby Fifteen Fifty building. Read more about that project here.
We wrapped 2022 with the honor of being included on TIME’s Best Inventions List with our OneWater system. The inclusion of our onsite reuse technology to this list shows the crucial role water innovation continues to play in our communities. Additionally, Epic was featured in numerous other publications including the BBC, CBS, Commercial Property Executive, Commercial Observer, and Workweek.
We formed new and valuable partnerships with organizations that are vital to our communities and the advancement of sustainable technologies, including USGBC chapters in Northern California, Los Angeles, and Orange County, as well as SPUR and the San Diego Green Building Council.
It was an amazing and eventful year for Epic Cleantec, and we look forward to continuing our work making waves in 2023!
