Water conservation still matters in the mountains
As climate change accelerates and population centers in the Rockies grow, sustainable water infrastructure becomes not only a solution but a necessity.

Though often associated with rugged mountains and snowy peaks, the Rockies face serious water sustainability challenges. Much of the region is semi-arid to arid, with water supply dependent on snowpack, mountain runoff, and over-allocated river systems like the Colorado River. In recent years, these sources have become less reliable due to prolonged droughts and rising temperatures.
- The Colorado River crisis involves water shortages, climate change, and the need for sustainable management. The river is a critical water source for approximately 40 million people across seven U.S. states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming, and parts of Mexico.
- Montana and Wyoming, while less populated, are seeing impacts on agriculture and freshwater availability. For both states, agriculture is a primary economic driver, and its viability is increasingly threatened by reduced snowpack, earlier runoff, and prolonged dry periods.
- El Paso is experiencing significant water challenges due to prolonged drought and climate change. The city sits at the edge of the Chihuahuan Desert and has long relied on water reuse technology and drought mitigation strategies.
This partnership will bring our onsite water reuse systems to the forefront of sustainable building practices in these regions.
Looking ahead
By teaming up with Shyne & Associates, we’re creating a pathway for innovative water reuse solutions to flourish across the Mountain States. This partnership reflects our shared belief that addressing water challenges is not only a technical issue, it’s a moral imperative.
We’re thrilled to take this next step and look forward to empowering communities throughout the Rockies with the tools they need to thrive in a water-scarce future.
